Tammy was born in New York City, and spent most of her growing up years in Ames, Iowa. She earned a bachelor's degree in American Government from the University of Virginia, and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Tammy currently resides in North Carolina with her husband and two children.

Tammy shares with and teaches all ages (from elementary school students to adults)
in a variety of settings, including women’s events/retreats, congregations, youth groups,
vacation bible school, Christian school classrooms and homeschool groups.
Tammy caters to the needs of different groups, whether the event is a single talk, a full retreat, or even a classroom Passover meal. Whatever the setting, she simply loves sharing about ways that the Old Testament and its rituals pointed to the coming Messiah, as well as exploring the Jewish context of New Testament events.
